The Death of Privilege

Can we keep singing the songs of privilege?

Has it not been our downfall?

We have succumbed to guilt and given way to apathy,

We must betray our privilege and stand in it’s way,

Extend a hand to those without,

And bring ruin to the masters, who regard us with hate,

Our names will not be remembered for our thoughtful prose,

Our names won’t be revered for a revolution of consciousness,

The oppressor must feel the pain they create,

And burn with the lies they tell us in the books they wrote,

A collective deception has become our vice in full,

Crashing down on our heads is the reality of our burden,

Speaking of love can only bring you more language,

This entire mess made by those who hinder revolution,

If blood doesn’t spill in the streets of those who cause calamity,

Then your words mean nothing,

Cling to your privilege with all that you have,

For your pacifism is real because of the pain suffered by the oppressed,

Cowardice is not an option now,

Your society kills in the wing while you wave signs and speak of peace,

This peace is false and your means are feeble,

The real problems exist and you don’t even realize it,

Your candle light vigil won’t end racism,

And your sit-in’s and sign waving wont collapse our rape culture,

Keep dancing by the strings of the system you claim you hate,

While we destroy this system for what it is,

And watch it burn into antiquity
